For the past decade, Khloé Kardashian’s weight-loss ride has been just as public as it has been remarkable (she’s said to have shed an incredible 30 pounds in the past few years). But for the 33-year-old soon-to-be mother, the transformation goes much further than number on the scale.
In an Instagram photo posted today, Kardashian shared a side-by-side comparison of herself from 2010 and a more recent shot (before her pregnancy), reflecting both on her very personal journey and the one looking back at her in the mirror, and it’s about so much more than just her body.
“For me, my transformation journey started from within. I needed to heal myself from the inside out. Once I started putting myself first, everything started falling into place. My life transformed a few years ago when I made the decision to stop existing and start living.”
The uplifting words then turned toward her fans and anyone who can relate to her journey: “Choose your life. Don’t let anybody else decide for you! We are no victims to life but we can become victims and prisoners to the people that we choose to surround ourselves with if we allow them to break us and consume us. Never be afraid to put yourself first! Never choose comfort over your own well-being! Never forget that fate loves the fearless! Today’s wisdom was yesterday’s pain. Tomorrow’s happiness is today’s bravery!”
Kardashian ended her post with a nod to herself and her incredible dedication. “I am so proud of myself for being stronger than I’ve ever been-mind body and soul. I am even prouder of myself that I’ve been able to maintain a healthy lifestyle for so many years. I broke that cycle and I’m happier than I have ever been! You can do this!! Start from within and nothing can stop you. Elevate yourself- mind body and soul.”
Considering the post has already gotten 1.3 million likes and racked up more than 16,000 inspiring, thankful and back-patting comments in just a few hours, it’s safe to say Kardashian’s body-positive mindset has made quite an impact on those in similar situations.
As plastic surgeons and aesthetic doctors all around the world, puts it: In-office treatments for losing inches come in a range of treatment types—from quackery to quasi-surgical. If chosen judiciously, they can provide a powerful complement to any body transformational regimen.

“Other than skin tightening, no other noninvasive treatment is more requested than fat removal. And who wouldn’t want to lose some unnecessary inches with a simple procedure?”
The good news: “Over the years a number of devices have been brought to the market with the promise of noninvasive fat removal, and many of them fell short on their claims. If significant changes are wanted, nothing will ever come close to the efficacy of liposuction, but for many, surgery is not an option. Noninvasive fat removal falls generally in three categories: Heat-based destruction of fat cells, cold-induced destruction of fat cells and rafiofrequency destruction of fat cells.

At SW1 Clinic, aesthetic doctor Dr Chua Han Boon says one specific treatment has been showing promising results. “Coolshape uses cryolipolysis to destroy the fat cells, providing permanent results. Its advancement is significant because unlike other modalities, multiple areas can be treated at the same time, minimizing in-clinic time and is well-tolerated.”
“Most people need just three to four treatments to see optimal results,” he adds. “And when paired with an overlying fat melter cum body skin tightener like Body Exilis which uses the power of deep radiofrequency waves, the effects will be enhanced. If fat is going to be destroyed in the area, skin tightening will enhance the overall outcome.”
Dr. Chua does stress that noninvasive treatments are beneficial alternatives, but do not replace surgical procedures, and this should be considered in a person’s expectations. “Going this route usually requires more than one treatment and time to see results. The amount of fat loss when being treated with a fat destruction device is also fairly immeasurable because the destroyed cells remain in the body until it metabolizes them out through the lymphatic system. One important thing to remember is that even if the fat is destroyed or removed, the body can always gain fat—it will just be in a different area of the body than what was treated.”
For patients who want quicker and more drastic fat reduction, vaser liposuction could be the treatment of choice for you. “Vaser liposuction results in a quick and dramatic body shaping effect, with a downtime of about 2-3 days” says Dr Tan Ying Chien, consultant plastic surgeon at SW1 Clinic. Dr Tan also agrees that while results are usually long-lasting, a healthy lifestyle is important to ensure fat does not return. Making use of non-invasive adjuncts such as Coolshape and Body Exilis Magic are wise investments for long term maintenance.
Both doctors agree that there will be more technological attempts for fighting fat in the future “As long as waistlines in this country continue to expand, there will be a demand for such devices” Dr Chua.
