4 Spa Facials To Try

December is usually the month people decide they should do something pampering for their faces. I like visiting the better known spas (or medispas) for my facials. It’s not just the facials of these reputable places that’s reliably better, it’s the experience of the facial treatment in its entirety that keeps me going back when I think of a pampering face treatment.

Here are my top 4 favourite facials for this holiday season.

Spa Esprit – Simple Pimple Plan Facial

Best For: Zit zapping and complexion clearing ($214, 75 min)

They say simple for pimples is always good. This facial unclogs pores and stimulates cell renewal using an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) peel and a detoxifying clay mask soothes acne-prone and sensitive skin, giving you crystal clear skin.

SW1 Clinic – 24K Uplift Facial

Best For: Heavy lifting for sagging skin ($500, 90 min)

SW1 Clinic is an aesthetic and plastic surgery centre spanning 6 units on a floor in Paragon Orchard. Doctor designed facelifting treatment without needles. Need I say more? SW1 Spa’s 24K Uplift Facial uses SygmaLift, a high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) technology that penetrates deep underneath the skin to stimulate natural collagen renewal and lifting. Find comfort in a deep lymphatic draining massage, and skin is tightened further by bathing skin cells in a collagen essence and a cold hydrating mask, reducing lines and improving skin’s elasticity from within. Seeing is believing for this one!

SW1 Clinic – Illumi Facial

Best For: That coveted party glow ($350, 60 minutes)

Get glowing with SW1 Spa’s Illumi Facial. This facial is the gem of hybrid facials. Starting with a round of ultrasonic cleansing which rids the skin’s surface of impurities such as black heads and dead skin cells, skin is noticeably smoother and brighter. This is followed by 2 passes of instant brightening and pigment-lightening intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment. Other discolourations caused by rosacea, veins and acne are also lightened. You can choose an add-on such as Happy Ending ($130), which contains Adenosine (known for superb anti-aging properties) in a carrot and rice callous stem cell extract delivered deep into the skin via sonophoresis, or simply end the facial off with a hydrating radiance gel wrap. The science behind this doctor-designed facial is definitely worth all the hype.

SKII Boutique Spa – Senzational Facial

Best For: A relaxing after-party refresher ($260, 90 min)

This facial is guaranteed to have you go into a calm snooze as early as 10 minutes in. It starts off with lavender aromatherapy and a soothing scalp massage but customers always find the pot of gold in the 55-step rejuvenating facial massage! Using only SK-II products, the highly prized facial treatment sheet mask which is soaked in pitera essence is applied and sonophoresis is performed to enhance penetration of this prized anti-aging ingredient. The facial ends off with a shoulder, neck and scalp massage.
